David J. Britton is a 2001 cum laude graduate of Seattle University School of Law and former Lead Article Editor of the Seattle University Law Review. He graduated from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1994 with a dual Bachelor of Arts in Russian and Political Science. Mr. Britton is also an Honor Graduate of the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California.
Mr. Britton was admitted to the Bar in Washington in 2001. He began his legal career representing municipalities and school districts, and prosecuting misdemeanor criminal cases. He next gained extensive experience in personal injury law and governmental defense litigation as an insurance defense attorney. Mr. Britton opened the Law Office of David J. Britton as a civil litigation form focusing on real estate and commercial law, unlawful detainer (evictions), municipal law, personal injury and insurance coverage, wills and probate, and general civil litigation. Mr. Britton has successful experience in civil bench and jury trials, arbitrations, administrative appeals, and criminal jury
trials. He currently serves as Town Attorney for the Town of Ruston, WA.
In addition to his experience as a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, and civil trial attorney for both plaintiffs and defendants, David brings a diverse set of experiences to the practice of law, including a previous career as a marine vessel operations manager in the shipping and fisheries industries, and six years of miilitary service in the Army National Guard as a Counterintelligence Team Leader / Russian Linguist. He has also worked as a sports editor/reporter/photographer for a local suburban weekly, an in-flight Russian translator for Alaska Airlines, and a translator on an American factory trawler in the West Bering Sea. David was born in Puyallup, Washington, and raised in Tacoma, attending Tacoma public schools. He is a proud graduate of Mount Tahoma High School, Tacoma, WA.
